How do I restart your Wi-Fi home network?

Are you having connectivity issues with your Netgear device during this COVID 19 pandemic? In that case, you need to perform a hard reset function on your network. This will definitely solve the lost connection problem and resume your work at home during the blackout period. You may be wondering the steps to restart your devices.

To restart your home network, you must first turn off all devices connected to the network. Includes a modem, router and an extension. If you are using a Netgear extender with your router, turn it off, and if possible, run the Netgear WiFi Extender installation wizard again if our network is not working properly. Turn them on in the same order you turned them off. Restarting the home network solves the issues related to what is listed below.

There is no internet access on any smart device.

No website is available.

Internet connection not established on the router or modem.

The Internet LED flashes yellow on the router.

Note: For proper network restart, as mentioned above, the order to turn the devices on and off must be followed in the same way.

Now we will shed light on the steps to turn the Internet on and off at home.

Case 1: use a separate cable modem with the router

Turn off all network devices such as cable modems, routers, and wireless devices. Some modems have built-in backup batteries. You must remove the batteries before shutting them down for a hard reset. Steps to reset these modem models are also provided on the page.

First, turn off the cable modem and wait for it to start. This will take a few seconds. The lights will stabilize when the connection to the ISP is established. For further instructions or guided manuals, go to the manufacturer's website for "Modem" and check the status of the LEDs from there.

Now it's your turn to turn on the router. The router will now take a few minutes to connect to the modem. Wait a moment and check the status of the LED. When the status light turns green, it means the router is connected to the modem. In case of problems, see the guidebook for the router.

Turn on all wired and wireless devices. If the extension does not connect to the router after this process, you will need to launch the Netgear Genie Extender to troubleshoot your network.

Case 2: Gateway/DSL Modem Use Only: The steps to restart this type of network are:

The first step is the same as in case 1. Turn off all network devices, such as the gateway router, modem, and wireless devices.

Turn on DSL/Gateway and wait until startup is complete. This only takes a few minutes. Therefore, it is not necessary to hurry. In a successful connection, the LED lamp stabilizes in most of the router otherwise; You can see the online guided guide for complete use and status of the light.

Once the DSL gateway is complete and connected to your ISP, you can turn on your wired and wireless devices now and see if the issue is resolved or not.

After performing the steps mentioned above, you will be able to troubleshoot various issues, such as not being able to access the browser page, not being able to connect, or bright yellow problems with the router. If you are still having problems with your router, or if the Netgear WiFi Extender is not working, you can contact experts for the best solution.
